An Ultra Sound Day

September 20, 2008 · Print This Article

This morning we saw our little baby for the first time.

On a square screen in a darkened room we looked upon the surreal sight of a grainy monochrome child wriggling in ultrasound.

Nothing has been real until this moment. Now I can safely say, We are having a baby.

On entering the room, I was full of questions about the high tech kit. As soon as the screen flickered to life I was stuck dumb.

Smiling and staring, staring and wondering what this little child is and what it will become.

In these last few years online, keeping a portion of my private life private has been relatively easy. My Wife Jess works long hours and I am left working from home, creating social media mayhem whilst at the same time doing my best to protect her from any of my internet shenanigans.

I feel that pretty soon, we are to experience a convergence..

Isn’t that amazing that technology is now allowing our men to experience the miracle of life as early as we do? (or at least nearly because it will always be, well, kindof different, but still).

    Thanks for sharing.

My thoughts to this beginning life, may it be protected by the love that carries miracles to the skies.

  4. Laura on September 20th, 2008 11:30 pm

Babies were much on my mind today. I kept seeing them all over, seems we’ve had a baby boom in NYC. How perfect it is to come home and find your news. Gives me feelings of wonder and awe. I am so happy for you Christian. As for the coming convergence, I bet Jess will be loved just as much as you are.

  15. Geoff hickman (Geoffsays) on September 21st, 2008 1:28 am

wow, fantastic Christian! The wife and I are trying to have sprogs as well. I guess the term “ourmaninside” now has a duel meaning :-) (assuming if it’s a boy)

  16. Langley on September 21st, 2008 4:33 am

WHAT DID YOU DOOOO? Your poor wife. Instead of just you, she’ll now have to deal with TWO children running around the house. ;)

    Congrats, buddy!

  17. David Bailey on September 21st, 2008 6:03 am

    My Dear Chap

Stay safe and well for the 3 of you!

  21. nicholas butler on September 21st, 2008 8:37 am

Well for reasons which in quite a few months will be quite apparent to you Im catching up with your blog a little later than most!

Christian, Wife and early Bump a huge big congratulations to you all.

I suppose I should call you up and taunt One of Us , One of Us but that might leave Sizemore feeling a little unhinged for the next few months.

Just remember this is not something you can go around convincing all your other friends to try out !

Now that said and done another big congratulations to you both for having successful reproductive sex and then telling us all about it .

Love and best wishes to you all.

  22. Benjamin on September 21st, 2008 8:37 am

Congratulations to you both. It will be a blast. Mine are 28 and 20 and each has aged me about a thousand years - thus the fetching greyness of the not yet fallen out hairs. But worth it.
Not often I envy the unborn, but this sproghas a Dad-in-waiting that will make her/his life a great adventure. And a Mum that must be equally adventurous (not to mention saintly) to have put up with you :-)
    Enjoy!

humm , interesting not so many have brought through words of wisdom, to do’s and not to do’s.
Well, As a your Brother , and a Father of three ( Father- wow makes me feel old ) , I would like to wish you publicly all the best. Your world will never be the same again, there will be times of tears and joy. Love and laughter. For richer for poorer.
Just last night I was up all night with Julia, and today I have felt utterly drained. But one things for sure; I wouldn’t have it any other way! ..
Looking forward to becoming an inspirational rock star of an Uncle to your beautiful child.
